ABOUT OUR STAFF
Warren W. Cronacher, P.E., President
Mr.
Cronacher has served as president/owner of Criterium-Tauscher Cronacher Engineers since 1986. In his 40 years experience as a consulting engineer, he
has personally inspected thousands of commercial and industrial buildings and
in excess of 25,000 private dwellings, from Manhattan brownstones, co-op,
and condominium apartments to east-end beach and vacation homes, primary
residences and houses at every stage of construction. He provides in-depth
consultations with building owners on specific problems of water infiltration,
weatherproofing, roof specifications and structural repairs, and serves tenant
groups in co-op and condominium conversions. Mr. Cronacher is in demand as a
speaker at professional society meetings, and has appeared on ABC Prime Time,
CBS News, and News 12 Long Island. His articles have appeared in The New York
Times, Newsday, Money Magazine, and other publications. He is a member of
N.A.B.I.E., N.S.P.E., N.A.F.E., and A.S.C.E., is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York and Connecticut, and holds a B.S.C.E. from Northeastern University.
Anthony J. Grieco, R.A., Vice President
Mr. Grieco's background covers planning, environmental impact
studies, design and construction of a wide range of facilities. He has been
with the firm since 1976, and has inspected over 15,000 buildings in addition
to directing, planning, designing, environmental impact and partial
construction of a $237 million convention center. In addition, he was directly
involved in the construction of 11 office buildings in lower Manhattan,
portions of several hospitals, and sections of the New Jersey Turnpike.
Mr.Grieco's experience places him among a handful of Architects who are known
and accepted as experts in the field of Forensic Architecture. He is a member
of the A.I.A., N.A.B.I.E., and B.O.C.A. He is licensed as a Registered
Architect by the State of New York and by the N.Y. and N.J. Department of
Environmental Conservation. He received his B.S. in Architecture from the City
College of New York.
Frederick W. Glaser, P.E., Associate
Since becoming associated with the firm in 1984, Mr. Glaser has
inspected over 12,000 commercial, industrial, and residential buildings as well
as single family residences. His specialty is performing Phase I Environmental Assessments for the Commercial Division of the firm. He is a Certified Federal A.H.E.R.A.
Asbestos Inspector, a licensed N.Y.S. Asbestos Inspector, and is trained in the
identification and abatement of lead based paint hazards. Mr. Glaser is a
member of N.S.P.E. and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of New York and
New Jersey. He received his B.S.C.E. from Villanova University and an MBA from
Adelphi University.
Robert Bortolin, R.A., Associate
A full-time prepurchase real estate property architect since 1971, Mr. Bortolin
has personally inspected over 20,000 structures including homes, apartment
buildings, cooperative developments, commercial and industrial buildings. An
expert in the field of Forensic Engineering, he has a background in the health,
residential, industrial and commercial areas including design, specification
preparation and construction supervision for hospitals and medical centers
throughout the world. He is licensed in the State of New York and registered in
Connecticut. Mr. Bortolin is a member of the A.I.A. and holds Diplomate status
in N.A.B.I.E. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Pratt Institute.
Jerry Apanasevich, P.E., Associate
Mr. Apanasevich has been with the firm since 1989. His background
includes working for the City of New York for 20 years, giving him solid
experience in the design, management, and review of multi-million dollar
capital programs. With a specialty in structures, the building inspection field
was a natural progression for him. He has inspected thousands of single family
homes and brownstone structures since joining the firm. He holds NYC
certification as an Asbestos Investigator and is licensed by the State of New
York to practice engineering. Mr. Apanasevich is a member of A.S.C.E.,
M.E.C.N.Y., N.S.P.E., and N.A.B.I.E. He received both his B.S.C.E. and M.S.C.E.
from City College of New York.
Neil B. Schmelkin, P.E., Associate
Mr. Schmelkin's experience includes the planning, design, and
supervision of the construction of residential homes, the inspection of
subcontractors conformance to design drawings, and steel and timber beam and
column design. He has inspected over 6,000 buildings, many of them strip malls,
taxpayer units and brownstone-type residences. A member of N.S.P.E. and
A.S.C.E., he has participated in building inspection "think tank" studies and
extensive peer-review programs. Mr. Schmelkin holds a N.Y.S. license in
Professional Engineering, and received his B.S.C.E. from Polytechnic University
of New York.
Charles Butt, P.E., Associate
Mr. Butt has been with the company since 2003 and focuses on the inspection of single family residences in Nassau and Suffolk counties. His background includes work as an energy conservation specialist for a major communications company where he identified energy saving opportunities to its customers.
He is the Second Vice-president for the Nassau Chapter of the NYSSPE, a committee member for the Engineering Joint Council of Long Island and a participant in the companies peer review program.
He holds his professional license in the State of New York and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. His Masters of Science was awarded in Management Engineering from Long Island University.
Richard Haber, R.A., Associate -Retired after 10 of service
Mr. Haber's background includes project management for
institutional and commercial projects. He has operated his own architectural
practice where he specialized in the design, construction, coordination and
inspection of residential/commercial alterations and additions. Since his
affiliation with the firm, he has attended "think tank" roundtable studies and
peer-review programs. He is a member of the A.I.A. and the Westchester
Preservation League. He is licensed by the State of New York as a Registered
Architect, and received his Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse
University.
Thomas R. Harrison, P.E., Associate - Retired after 30 years in 2003
As a consulting engineer with the firm since 1973, Mr. Harrison has personally inspected more than 15,000 properties including commercial
buildings, apartment houses, and private dwellings. His work focuses on
consultation for the investigation and resolution of construction-related
problems. He is distinguished as an expert in the field of investigative
engineering, and as such has testified in court as an expert witness. Mr.
Harrison carries the NYPIUA Wind Storm Certification and holds Diplomate status
in the National Academy of Building Inspection Engineers. He is licensed as a
Professional Engineer in the State of New York and received his B.S.C.E. from the University of
Dayton.
